Take a young man who had never been outside the state of Texas and throw him on an orange and ochre 737 to pass out peanuts and point out exits in a calm, assuring way. Fuel him with diet Coke and grilled cheese sandwiches. Put a Basset Hound or two on his feet to keep them warm. Wrap it up with a cartoonist's hopeful cynicism and watch him dream.
